Little more than two years after the discovery of gold in 1851, the first cricket matches commenced on the Bendigo goldfields under rudimentary playing conditions. It is thought that only horseracing proceeded cricket as a social outlet for the rapidly increasing population of miners on the diggings.
It wasn’t until 1894 when the BDCA took shape and gradually developing into the highly respected cricketing body that is today.
130 years later the BDCA continues to provide quality competitions for participants across the Bendigo Region. More recently the development of the Association’s Women's competitions has been by far the largest achievement in the past decade.
Locally, we provide a vibrant community competition that fosters a love for the game and brings together players of all skill levels. Beyond offering an inclusive and engaging environment, we also create a pathway for aspiring athletes to pursue their dreams of playing at higher levels. Through our structured programs and development opportunities, talented players can progress from community leagues to premier competitions, and potentially onto state or even international stages.
